FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Anne Conzemius ART IN THE BARN CELEBRATES 7th YEAR
Art in the Barn opens up in July with a seventh season of music and art in a beautiful rural landscape. For seven years, Art in the Barn has had one core mission: to provide a venue and an audience for these artists to share their work. In that time, the 1870’s restored barn where the event takes place has played host to bands from as far away as the Netherlands and artists from as nearby as Paoli.
“We are very excited to be opening our 7th season this summer. When we started out we had no idea if we could even make it through one show or if there was even enough interest but over 150 people came to that first show and we knew that we had discovered something! Now we average between 75 and 200 guests per show – word of mouth has been our best ally. All the people who help pull this together do it in their spare time making Art in the Barn a true labor of love. It is that passion for the venue, the artists and musicians that has kept us going. Watching people enjoy great music in this casual setting and getting a chance to meet the talented artists and musicians keeps us and our audience dedicated to this event.” said Anne Conzemius, who along with her husband Bill own the property and host the events. “This fifth year features some old favorites a few new faces and the once again the annual Gypsy Swing festival – our marquee event. Besides a great musical line-up and handcrafted artwork by local, regional and national artists we provide straw bale seating, a lawn for picnicking, bottled water to drink and peanuts to eat, the rest is up to the audience, they can bring chairs, food, blankets for the straw bales, in fact it is not uncommon to find groups sprawled out across the lawn listening to the great music and enjoying a picnic under the stars.” said Conzemius.
Art in the Barn provides a casual intimate atmosphere for performers and artists as well as its audience, who can find seats among the barn’s hay bales on beautiful summer evenings. The concerts and exhibits attract art and music lovers of all ages, contributing to a warm, fun, family friendly and unique atmosphere that makes the evening special for all.
More than 800 people have attended Art in the Barn events since they began in the summer of 2001. Each year, attendance has grown, bringing more financial support and larger audiences allowing greater support for the musicians and artists who have found a welcoming venue each summer in rural Wisconsin. Art in the Barn is a local organization and in keeping with the goal of supporting artists and musicians makes no profit off the events and works to ensure as much of the tickets sales as possible go directly to the musicians. This is only possible with support from this year’s corporate sponsor Park Printing as well as the generous individual sponsors who see the value in supporting the arts in Wisconsin. Sponsorships and donations continue to be welcome. |
